WASHINGTON — Alvin Brown and J. Todd Inman have joined the National Transportation Safety Board, filling two vacancies and restoring the board to its full five members.
Both members were sworn in on Monday. Brown’s term runs through 2026 and Inman’s concludes in 2027.
Brown, mayor of Jacksonville, Fla., from 2021 to 2015, was previously at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where he served as senior advisor for community infrastructure opportunities. He has also been executive director of the White House Community Empowerment Board and a senior advisor to former Commerce Secretary Ron Brown.
“I’m honored to have been appointed and confirmed to the NTSB and look forward to continue working to improve transportation safety,” Brown said in a press release. “The NTSB is the international gold standard.”
Inman was formerly at public affairs and communications consulting firm APCO Worldwide. He has also served as secretary of the Florida Department of Management Services, senior advisor and chief of staff to former Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao, an independent contractor agent for State Firm Insurance Cos., in the special investigative unit for State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance, and was an instructor for the National Fire Academy regional delivery program of Arson detection.

Brown and Inman join Chair Jennifer Homendy and members Michael Graham and Tom Chapman on the board.
