SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Winter storms in Southern and Central California have impacted rail service in a number of areas today (Monday, Feb. 5).
Today’s Coast Starlight trains will run abbreviated routes. The train scheduled to depart Los Angeles this morning will instead originate in Emeryville, Calif., while the train departing Seattle will terminate in Emeryville. Today’s Amtrak San Joaquin trains 715, 717, and 719 from Bakersfield are scheduled to terminate in Emeryville instead of Oakland. Watch the San Joaquins feed on X for updates. Also, bus connections for Capitol Corridor trains between Sacramento and Reno/South Lake Tahoe have been cancelled today.
In Sacramento, light rail service is suspended because of “significant damage” from power outages, fallen trees, and other storm debris. Bus service is replacing the light rail until further notice. Watch sacrt.com/alerts for further information.
My professor at U-Michigan told us that California was an ecological disaster, mudslides, landslides, etc. I attended U-Michigan from 1968 to 1970. So don’t say California didn’t know about all this a very very long time ago.
California’s geography and ecology couldn’t support its population and its economic development.
Florida is next.
