SAN CARLOS, Calif. — Caltrain will introduce four new temporary discount fares as of Sept. 1 to give riders more travel options: a $1 youth pass, a Three-Day Pass, a Family Day Pass, and a Group Day Pass.
The $1 Youth Pass provides dollar one-way rides for passengers 18 and under, while the Three-Day Pass provides unlimited rides for a three-day period beginning with the day of purchase, designed with hybrid commuters in mind.
The Family Day Pass allows up to two adults and four youths (18 and under) to ride together for the cost of two adults and one youth; they must travel together in the same car. And the Group Day Pass allows four to six people to travel together for 15% off the cost of four tickets. The group must travel together in the same car and be in the same fare class (adult, youth, or eligible discount).
The $1 Youth Pass is available only with a Clipper Youth Card; the other fares are available vial the Caltrain Mobile App or at ticket vending machines at Caltrain stations.
A fare chart outlining the costs of these promotional fares is available here.
Caltrain will also be discounting parking at its station by 50% beginning Sept. 1, to $2.75 per day or $41.25 for a monthly permit.
A meaningful goodwill gesture from Caltrain.
