Caltrain logoSAN CARLOS, Calif. — Caltrain will reduce weekday service for two weeks beginning Monday, April 17, to accommodate construction and testing for its electrification project.

Daily service will be reduced from 104 trains to 82 for the weeks of April 17-21 and April 24-28.

Monday through Thursday of those weeks, the last northbound train of the day will depart San Jose’s Tamien station at 10:26 p.m., while the last southbound train will depart San Francisco at 10:47 p.m. On Fridays, the last northbound will leave an hour earlier and the last southbound will depart 90 minutes earlier. Baby Bullet express trains will be suspended, and operations will be single-tracked between Palo Alto and Mountain View.

The temporary schedules are available here.

While there have been several recent weekend service reductions, this is the first weekday reduction this year to accommodate the electrification work. Electrified operation between San Francisco and San Jose is expected to begin in fall 2024.
