WINNIPEG, Manitoba — Cando Rail & Terminals has named Eric Buettner as the company’s first chief legal officer.

Buettner has more than 10  years of experience in corporate and commercial law with a focus on mergers and acquisitions at western Canada law firm MLT Aikins. He has served as Cando’s external counsel since 2018, primarily on transactional, commercial, and real-estate matters.

“Eric has built an exceptional track record,” Cando CEO Brian Cornick said in a press release, “overseeing robust merger and acquisition transactions, implementing structures for new investments, and helping to shape important commercial agreements. Cando has quickly become one of North America’s largest owners and operators of first- and last-mile rail infrastructure. Bringing in a CLO of Eric’s caliber will be invaluable to Cando as we enter our most ambitious chapter yet.

Cando’s services include shortline operations, industrial switching, material handling, terminal and transload services, and related services. More information is available at the company’s website.
