Plans call for Cathcart to renovate its and expand its existing facility at 7750 Wilson Ave., near the Missouri River Terminal, which is slated for a $500 million, four-phase expansion beginning this year. In addition to allowing Cathcart to increase its repair operation and rail services, the company projects it will create more than 20 new jobs to go with its current 33 positions.

The Economic Development Corp., led by Nathan Vanice, business development officer, assisted Cathcart with its Enhanced Enterprise Zone tax abatement application, as well as the Missouri Works program, which helps businesses access capital through withholdings or tax credits for facility expansions and equipment purchases.

“We would like to thank Nate for all his efforts in helping us access capital and incentives within the state of Missouri,” Doug Schwieger, Cathcart chief transformation officer, said in a press release. “Cathcart’s investment in Kansas City will increase the production capabilities, capacity, and efficiency of its facility in support of the major shipper-customers across the region.”
