Mars logoCHICAGO — CEOs of three Class I railroads head the list of speakers for January’s Midwest Association of Rail Shippers meeting, set for Jan. 12-13, 2022, at the Westin Chicago Lombard.

The theme of the meeting will be “Restarting the Supply Chain with Rail.”

“There has never been a more important time for rail industry leaders and shippers to get together and discuss how to create value and ship more freight via rail,” MARS President Stefan Loeb said in a press release. “With supply chain challenges come opportunity. Opportunities abound for railroads, rail suppliers, and rail constituents in general to assist shippers in need. This conference, with its unbeatable lineup of industry leaders, will look to examine and discuss every angle of this for the benefit of our attendees and members.”

Keith Creel of Canadian Pacific, Patrick Ottensmeyer of Kansas City Southern, and Jim Squires of Norfolk Southern are among those scheduled to take part. Also on the agenda are Dan Smith, CEO of Watco; Michael Miller, president, North America, of Genesee & Wyoming; and executive vice presidents, sales and marketing of CSX Transportation (Kevin Boone) and Union Pacific (Kenny Rocker).

Other rail and shipping figures slated to participate are Anthony B. Hatch, president of ABH Consulting; Association of American Railroads president Ian Jefferies; Greg Mitchell, chief commercial officer, Trinity Industries; Matthew Nee, general manager logistics services, U.S. Steel; Adam Nordstrom, principal, Viking Navigation; and Timothy Quinlan, managing director and senior economist, Wells Fargo Corporate and Investment Banking.

No online component is currently planned. The meeting cost is $275; registration and more information is available on the Midwest Association of Rail Shippers website.
