TABER, Alberta — Eleven cars of a Canadian Pacific freight train were reported to have derailed early Wednesday morning near the town of Taber, CTV News reports, leading to lane closures on adjacent Provincial Route 3.
No injuries were reported and no hazardous material were involved, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Traffic on the highway was reduced to single lanes in each direction while the derailment was cleaned up.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
Taber is 30 miles east of Lethbridge, Alba., roughly 50 miles due north of the U.S. border, and 90 miles north of Shelby, Mont.
