CALGARY, Alberta — CPKC has released a revised schedule for the return trip of Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 No. 2816 and the Final Spike Steam Tour, including a new display date in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The revised schedule accommodates the planned excursion with the locomotive on June 29 between Silvis and Bureau Junction, Ill., on the Iowa Interstate Railroad [see “Canadian Pacific 4-6-4 No. 2816 to pull public excursion,” Trains News Wire, May 22, 2024] and supersedes a version released briefly earlier this month. (That earlier version has been deleted from News Wire to prevent possible confusion.)
The revised schedule includes a longer stay for the locomotive in Mexico, meaning the first leg of the return trip in the U.S. is now June 15 between Laredo and Kendleton, Texas. The only scheduled public display event will be July 6 in Winnipeg; the tour concludes July 10 with the locomotive’s return to Calgary. The full schedule is below.
The supreme irony, for anyone with a sense of history, is that these special moves within the USA have been on the Milwaukee Road ROW.
How nice it would be if they would sell tickets to travel on it
