WEST MANSFIELD, Ohio — Twenty-eight cars of a CSX train carrying grain derailed Saturday afternoon (June 1), the Mercer County Outlook reports, leading to the closure of an adjacent county road.
No injuries were reported in the derailment that occurred about 5:15 p.m. The Logan County Sheriff’s Office reported County Road 142 was closed Saturday between State Route 47 and Township 123.
A CSX representative told WCMH-TV that the railcars involved were carrying grain and soybeans. West Mansfield is on CSX’s Scottslawn Secondary Subdivision, about 42 miles northwest of Columbus.
Former T&OC/NYC. Scottslawn Sub serves Scotts Lawn Products – appropriate name. There is also a West Mansfield, Ohio, located in the city of Mansfield. The name marks the junction of the Ashland Ry (former B&O) and NS (former PRR).
Well, here it is Monday and we have the first derailment report for the week. Wonder how many more through this Saturday. Luckily, this one only involves money and a blocked route.
