JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX announced it has reached a five-year tentative contract agreement with the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen, which represents 1,215 workers at the railroad.
In addition to wage increases, the agreement includes health and welfare benefits, vacation improvements, and improvements to seven local work rules, the union said on its website. The agreement is subject to a ratification vote.
“The agreement with the BRS continues to demonstrate our strong partnership with union leadership,” CSX CEO Joe Hinrichs said in a press release. “It reflects our shared commitment to safety, respect, and operational excellence as we move forward together as ONE CSX, ensuring greater efficiency and service for our customers.”
So far in the current bargaining cycle, CSX has achieved ratified agreements with 11 labor unions covering 14 work groups, accounting for 47% of its unionized workforce. The agreements provide equivalent wage and benefit packages.
