JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — CSX Corp. has announced ratification of a second agreement covering paid sick leave with members of the Brotherood of Railroad Signalmen, this time with approximately 200 workers on the company’s L&N property.
The agreement announced today (Oct. 25) follows a similar deal last with 400 members of the same union on CSX’s SCL properties [see “CSX announces sick-time agreement …,” Trains News Wire, Oct. 19, 2023]. CSX now has sick-time agreements with members of seven of its unions, covering thousands of workers.
“We greatly value our employees represented by the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen for their contributions to running a safe, reliable railroad,” CSX CEO Joe Hinrichs said in a press release. “We’re committed to improving the employee experience at CSX, and paid sick leave is one way we’re continuing to create a work environment that prioritizes employee welfare.” The union’s L&N General Chairman, Andy Webb, said “We’re glad to see continued progress as more of our hard-working members obtain the paid sick leave benefits that BRS has pursued since the conclusion of national agreements in December 2022.”
