PENINSULA, Ohio — The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is set to resume its regular operations this Friday, Feb. 3, ending a lengthy disruption caused by erosion adjacent to its right-of-way along the Cuyahoga River.
The railroad announced the resumption on its Facebook page, beginning with Friday night’s Cleveland Dinner & Event train. Scenic excursions through Cuyahoga Valley National Park are set to resume March 4, the railroad said.
More information and tickets are available at the railroad’s website.
Cancellation of some Cuyahoga Valley Scenic trips began Oct. 13 because of closure while the National Park Service dealt with erosion along the river [see “Riverbank erosion forces cancellation …,” Trains News Wire, Oct. 14, 2022]. The problem was repaired thanks to a $14 million grant announced just weeks ahead of the closure [see “Park project will help preserve right-of-way …,” News Wire, Sept. 28, 2022].
