DENVER — The Regional Transportation District and its union have both approved a new three-year labor agreement including raises of at least 25% for bus and light rail operators.
KMGH-TV reports the RTD board of directors authorized the agreement with Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1001, which represents about two-thirds of the district’s employees. It will increase starting pay for rail and bus operators to $24 from the current $20.58 per hour. It also shortens to six months the time that must pass before new operators are eligible for pay raises.
Along with pay raises and pension contributions, the agreement includes discussions between the RTD and union over potential work weeks of four 10-hour days, as well as more ability for employees to take paid time off.
