CP sets records for Canadian grain movement in third quarter, September
Canadian Pacific has reported the latest in a series of records for Canadian grain traffic, setting records of 7.72 million metric tons for the third quarter and 2.8 million metric tons in September. The records continue to reflect the introduction of new grain hopper cars, which can carry 15% more volume and 10% more weight than the cars they are replacing. CP now has 3,200 of the new cars in service. Joan Hardy, CP vice-president sales and marketing, grain and fertilizers, said in a press release, “The CP team showed itself ready for this fall’s harvest, supporting customers and their supply chains to get grain moving off the combine and to market. Customers tell us the crop that continues to come off the fields is large, and CP is ready to keep it moving.”
