Florida DOT commits $67 million for Tampa streetcar expansion
The Florida Department of Transportation announced Tuesday it will contribute $67 million toward a plan to expand Tampa’s TECO Line Streetcar, a proposed $234 million project which would add 1.3 miles to the existing 2.7-mile heritage streetcar system connecting downtown to the Ybor City district. The Tampa Bay Times reports the proposed extension to Tampa Heights still must secure a $100 million federal grant and receive a Florida Supreme Court ruling permitting a county transportation sales tax, which would provide the local share of the funding.
Canadian Pacific receives A-minus rating for environmental efforts
Canadian Pacific has received an A-minus rating from CDP for its environmental programs from global environmental non-profit CDP, which scored more than 5,800 companies on their sustainability efforts. CP CEO Keith Creel said in a press release, “A leadership level score of A-minus from CDP is a reflection of our efforts to position CP for a sustainably-driven future by implementing climate action within our own operations, while engaging with our value chain to enable positive change beyond our organization.” CP’s rating reflected efforts including the company’s first public statement on climate change, a commitment to establish a science-based emissions reduction target, and its 2019 Sustainability Data Supplement, which included the company’s full greenhouse gas emissions information. Union Pacific names Richardson as chief legal officer
Union Pacific has named Craig Richardson executive vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary. Richardson, who most recently served as vice president of commercial and regulatory law, will oversee all aspects of the company’s legal matters, including transactions and litigation, regulatory matters, labor and employment. He succeeds Rhonda Ferguson, who held the same title. “He is a superior partner and counselor and has the expertise we need during unprecedented change within our nation and company,” CEO Lance Fritz said in a press release.
