KCS announces challenge grant for Holiday Express fundraiser
Kansas City Southern says its Holiday Express fundraiser benefiting the Salvation Army has raised $148,115, and is issuing a challenge grant to raise more. Railroad CEO Patrick J. Ottensmeyer said in a press release that to mark Giving Tuesday, “I am proud to announce that KCS will donate $2 for every $1 raised by the Holiday Express project, up to an additional $100,000, between November 28 and December 15, 2020. Alstom, Bombardier get final approval to complete sale, will close deal in January
Alstom and Bombardier announced today that they have received all necessary regulatory approvals to complete the sale of Bombardier’s rail division to Alstom. The companies now expect the transaction to close Jan. 29, 2021. The deal, announced in February [see “Alstom reaches agreement to buy Bombardier,” Trains News Wire, Feb. 17, 2020], received conditional approval from European Union regulators in July [see “Digest: Alstom-Bombardier deal gets conditional EU approval,” News Wire, July 31, 2020].
CN donation supports university’s Centre for Supply Chain Management
Canadian National has made a C$500,000 donation to Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, to continue its support of research and education programs at the university’s Centre for Supply Chain Management at the Lazaridis School of Business and Economics. CN previously made a $500,000 donation in 2015. “Over the last five years, CN has worked closely with the Centre for Supply Chain Management at the Lazaridis School to support student internships and a cooperative education program — where students are employed at CN — establish a ‘CN Fellow’ in Supply Chain Management, and hold an annual conference on supply chain and logistics in Milton, Ont,” CN’s Keith Reardon, senior vice-president, consumer product supply chain, said in a press release.
