WILLIAMS, Ariz. — Arizona’s Grand Canyon Railway honored late Trains editor Jim Wrinn during a Saturday, April 23, excursion to mark Earth Day, adding a message, “Steam on, Jim Wrinn,” to the tender of 2-8-2 No. 4960.
The locomotive is an appropriate one to use for an Earth Day event because the locomotive, built by Baldwin for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, has been converted to operate on vegetable oil rather than fossil fuel.
Saturday’s excursion was part of the Grand Canyon’s “Steam Saturday” series, which is also scheduled to see steam-powered trains on May 7, June 4, July 2, Aug, 6, Sept. 3, Sept. 17, and Oct. 1.
The relationship between the railway and Trains magazine includes an October 2019 photo charter arranged by Wrinn and featuring both No. 4960, a Baldwin built for the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, and Grand Canyon’s 1906 Alco-built Consolidation, No. 29.
Very well done!
Jerry, I concur with your thoughts so repeating them is ok with me. STEAM ON!

Luv seeing all this honors to Mr. Jim Wrinn, hope it continues all year, X the country. He truly inspired so many, young, old, and guys like me, who once had a real passion for all-things-trains, but somehow lost it. Jim helped me find it again.
