NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Joseph M. Calisi, a longtime contributor to Trains Magazine and Trains News Wire, particularly regarding transit matters in the New York area, died on Aug. 30, 2022. He was 67.

Calisi, born in Bari, Italy, worked for New York City Transit for 34 years, retiring in 2020 as a computer associate. The Transportation Workers Union Local 100 website describes him as a dedicated union activist who helped organize the NYCT computer workers. They voted to join the union in 2017.

In addition to Trains, Calisi contributed to a number of rail publications, and to the NYCT’s Transit Transit video newsmagazine as a voiceover artist.

A celebration of life was held Sept. 6 at Frederick Funeral Home in Queens, N.Y., with entombment on Sept. 7 at Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx. He is survived by his wife, Roxanne, and family in Bari.
