NEW YORK — The Long Island Rail Road reported early this morning it had completed all infrastructure repairs following last Thursday’s derailment at Hall Interlocking and expects to operate a regular schedule of trains for today’s morning rush hour.

Some LIRR routes are currently reporting scattered delays, but the issues are unrelated to the derailment, according to the railroad’s Twitter account.

Thirteen people were injured when LIRR train No. 722 derailed on Thursday just east of Jamaica station [see “LIRR train derails …,” Trains News Wire, Aug. 3, 2023]. The derailment damaged more than 1,600 feet of track and 800 feet of third rail.
