RODESSA, La. — At least 10 cars of a CPKC train derailed near Rodessa this morning (Wednesday, Nov. 1), leading to the closure of State Route 1 while heavy machinery assists in cleanup at the scene.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office reports the derailment occurred about 6 a.m. Caddo Fire District 8 responded to the incident and reported that there were no injuries and no hazardous materials were eleased, according to a Sheriff’s Office report on Facebook.
Rodessa, population 270, is about 35 miles north of Shreveport, La. It is on CPKC’s former Kansas City Southern Shreveport Subdivision.
A lot of freight train derailments this week.. (CPKC in Louisiana, CN in northern Wisconsin)?
I think if you pull just the derailment reports from prior NewsWire’s you will find that derail events have been a weekly affair for several years. Not yard derails, but mainline service derails.
Interesting how it is now the “…former Kansas City Southern Shreveport Subdivision.” Just another erasing of a KCS name and location by CPkc.
CPKC teams are on site with additional equipment and crews responding to begin the clean-up of the rail cars. The cause of the derailment is under investigation.

There goes the delivery guarantee from Laredo to Bensenville.
Not a problem. They can simply detour trains on any of their many other routes to the Upper Midwest. Just like UP and BNSF would do.
