ARLINGTON, Va. — Members of the International Association of Machinists have ratified a new national agreement with the National Carriers Conference Committee, bargaining group for the National Railway Labor Conference.
The ratification announced today (May 1, 2025) makes the IAM the ninth union to finalize a contract during the current round of bargaining and means almost half of union employees at participating railroads have either a ratified or tentative agreement.
“The successful ratification of this agreement by IAM-represented employees marks a continuation of the great progress and strong collaboration we’ve seen in this bargaining round,” Jeff Rodgers, chairman of the NRLC and the NCCC, said in a press release. “We are grateful to IAM’s leadership for their partnership in reaching an agreement that delivers gains for their members and strengthens the industry’s future.”
The agreements include wage increases of 18.8% (compouned) over five years, improvements to health and welfare benefits, and access to more paid vacation earlier in an employee’s career.
Additional information about the current bargaining is available at the NRLC website.
