MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. — The Broadmoor Manitou & Pikes Peak Cog Railway, which debuted sunrise trips to the top of Pikes Peak earlier this summer, has scheduled two more this season, the Denver Post reports.
The first is set for Sept. 11 and will honor first responders, with a portion of proceeds going to the Manitou Springs fire and police departments. The second is set for Oct. 9, Indigenous Peoples Day, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Manitou School District.
The Sept. 11 trip departs at 5:15 a.m. and the Oct. 9 trip leaves at 5:40 a.m. Tickets are $99 and are available on the railway website. If weather prohibits the train from reaching the 14,115-foot summit, it will go as far as possible, but no ticket refunds will be available.
The railway reopened in 2021 after a four-year, $100 million rebuild including a reconstruction of its right-of-way, a new cog system, new and rebuilt equipment, a new Manitou Springs depot, and a new visitors center at the summit.
It is truly remarkable! We just back from there. It is a great experience. 25% grades and awesome people working there. It should be on everyone’s bucket list
I am very happy that my wife And I got to take both US cog railways. They are spectacular.
New trains, new tracks, new depot, new Pikes Peak Visitor Center, and one of the most unique lifetime experiences in the world.
