CHICAGO — Commuter rail operator Metra has launched a survey on proposed fare changes for 2024 that would reduce the number of fare zones from 10 to four and change some of the fare options available. Metra also announced plans for information tables at its four primary downtown stations to provide information and answer questions about the fare plan.

Metra announced the fare plan last month [see “Metra considers significant changes …,” Trains News Wire, June 22, 2023].

The survey is available here.

Meanwhile, the series of informational appearances by Metra personnel at downtown stations will begin this Wednesday, July 17, at Millennium Station, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Other informational sessions, set for the same hours, will be held July 26 at Chicago Union Station; Aug. 1 at LaSalle Street Station; and Aug. 2 at Ogilvie Transportation Center.
