LOS ANGELES — Commuter rail operator Metrolink will extend service on its Ventura County Line to the site of the 2023 X Games during the extreme sports event at the Ventura County Fairgrounds July 21-23.
Metroolink announced the additional service on Thursday. Normally, Metrolink trains terminate at the Ventura East station, but they will serve the Downtown-Beach station adjacent to the Fairgrounds during the X Games.
“I am excited that fans from across Southern California can ride Metrolink’s Ventura County Line to and from the 2023 X Games at the Ventura County Fairgrounds,” Metrolink CEO Darren Kettle said in a press release. “Thanks to our affordable Metrolink ticket options and the recent addition of trains, along with expanded Sunday service on the Ventura County Line corridor, our riders can reap the benefits and attend this exciting event or just go explore Ventura Beach.”
Metrolink offers a $10 unlimited-ride day pass on Saturdays and Sundays. Schedules for Metrolink service during the X Games are available here.
While Friday Metrolink service only includes an outbound train, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner had previously announced additional service during the X Games that includes extra late-night service for returning spectators [see “Pacific Surfliner to offer fare discount …,” Trains News Wire, June 27, 2023].
