FREMONT, Calif. – All Altamont Corridor Express trains were canceled until Jan. 23 after a second ACE train in two days was halted by a mudslide Wednesday while traveling between Pleasanton and Fremont, the commuter agency announced.

On its website ACE said: “Due to the conditions of the mudslide location and for the safety of passengers and crews, ACE will not operate on January 19th and 20th. ACE will resume service on Monday Jan. 23, 2023.”

At 5:39 a.m. Wednesday ACE Train No. 01 was traveling westbound into Fremont through Sunol when it came across debris flow and mudslide conditions, an ACE spokesperson told KRON4 Television. Passengers say they felt a jolt before the train stopped. Three passengers were treated for minor injuries. A bus bridge was put in place for passengers to continue west.

On Jan. 17, over 220 passengers had to be removed from an ACE train that was struck by a 100-foot mudslide in Niles Canyon and were moved to a rescue train.
