CHICAGO — Michael Naatz has been named as chief operating officer at Anacostia Rail Holdings, the company has announced.
Naatz most recently was executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Kansas City Southern, after previously serving as senior vice president, operations support, and chief information officer, leading intermodal operations, mechanical, service design, and information technology. Before that, he had been at transportation firm YRC Holland.
“Mike brings a strong supply chain background to our railroads,” Anacostia CEO Peter A. Gilbertson said in a press release. “His success in a broad range of transportation and logistics positions — and our previous experience with him as an industry peer — makes us confident in his ability to provide strategic leadership and execution that supports the needs of our customers and growth.”
Naatz holds a MBA degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of Illinois, as well as a certificate in distribution management from DePaul University.
“I’m excited to join an already great rail team,” Naatz said. ”Short line railroads are known for their strong customer-focused culture, and Anacostia is a leader in safety, responsive service, and innovation. I look forward to helping leverage the proven talent and skills across all of Anacostia’s railroads in support of continued growth.”
