WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — The Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro-North Railroad has introduced the first of what it says will be up to five heritage locomotives to mark the commuter operation’s 40th anniversary.
GE P32ACDM No. 208 has been vinyl wrapped in a silver, blue, and red design honoring the original paint scheme created in 1983 for Metro-North’s FL9 locomotives and worn by those units until the last was retired in April 2007.
Metro-North began operation on Jan. 1, 1983. More information on its anniversary is here.
The MTA also released a short video of the unit:
Great design and nice to see that Metro-North is honoring their heritage. As I stated in another post, the Long Island Railroad has to get busy and repaint one of their locomotives in a heritage paint scheme also. The Long Island Railroad has a rich history and heritage and should be acknowledged and commemorated on one their units too.
