THOMASTON, Conn. — The Railroad Museum of New England will host the “Night on the Naug” photo event on June 24, a fundraiser to repair damage to the museum’s Maine Central snowplow sustained during a recent vandalism incident. All proceeds will go to the museum.
The event is scheduled to begin with an evening briefing about 8 p.m., and is projected to conclude at 11:30 p.m. It will feature equipment such was Boston & Maine SW No. 1109, recently repainted into its as-delivered scheme; historic freight equipment, and a classic New Haven Railroad truck. Also expected to be included are Naugatuck Railroad GP9 No. 859, New Haven FL9 No. 2019, New Haven express-mail car No. 3659; Naugatuck coach No. 5046 (ex-CN), and CN coach 5114. (Equipment involved is subject to change.)
Tickets can be purchased in advance through the museum’s Facebook page, its website, or via this link. Three different ticket packages are available.
Those participating are advised to bring camera with manual settings (no cell phone cameras), trigger release cords or remote triggers, and a tripod. Standard and wide-angle perspectives will be part of the event, and flash lighting will be provided for outdoor scenes. The event will be centered around the Thomaston station. Participants should wear appropriate footwear for uneven surfaces and possible wet conditions and bring layers of clothing for possible cool weather. The event will be held rain or shine.
