NJ Transit logoTRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Senate President Nicolas Scutari has named Anthony Abrantes to fill a seat on the NJ Transit board vacated by Sangeeta Doshi, whose term expired Jan. 14, the New Jersey Herald reports.

Abrantes, of East Hanover, N.J., is assistant executive secretary-treasurer of the Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters. He fills a seat as a public representative on the board created by a 2020 bill reforming NJ Transit and the makeup of its board that had been held by Doshi, who had been appointed by previous Senate President Steve Sweeney. Doshi,  of Cherry Hill. has not said why she did not seek a second term. The Herald says she served as a voice for South Jersey commuters during her time on the board.

Doshi is the fourth board member to depart in a little over a year. Just two, Richard Maroko and Shanti Narra, remain from the group that joined in 2020.
