NEWARK, N.J. — NJ Transit car inspectors, mechanics, and coach cleaners have ratified a new three-year agreement with the transit agency, the Transport Workers Union of America announced.

Some 80% of members of TWU Local 2001 — which represents 180 workers — voted in favor of the new agreement, which takes effect July 1. The contract includes three years of 3% pay raises, an additional paid sick day (bringing the total to six) and adds Veterans Day as a paid holiday.

“I want to congratulate Local 2001 for negotiating a new contract that betters the quality of life for our hardworking New Jersey Transit workers and their families,” Rail Division Director John Feltz said in a press release.
