NEWARK, N.J. — NJ Transit will resume regular operations on its Morris & Essex line on Friday, Dec. 15, following completion of catenary repairs near Mount Tabor, the transit agency has announced.
Service has been significantly disrupted — with some trains cancelled, others rerouted, and others making additional stops — since catenary supports were knocked down on Dec. 4. NJ Transit said it was investigating the cause, but NJ.com reported photos shows the supports had been knocked down by work-train equipment [see “NJ Transit’s Morris & Essex line disrupted …,” Trains News Wire, Dec. 5, 2023]. One track was restored to service through the area on Tuesday, allowing a partial resumption of operations.
