RICHARDSON, Texas — A Dallas Area Rapid Transit light rail train derailed in suburban Richardson on Thursday evening, disrupting service on the Red and Orange lines.
KTVT-TV reports the southbound Red Line train derailed near the Galatyn Park Station, north of downtown Dallas, about 7 p.m. DART is saying the derailment was caused by a “mechanical issue” and also caused damage to overhead catenary lines. No injuries were reported.
A bus bridge is currently being operated around the accident site between the Arapaho Center and CityLine Bush stations. The area sees weekday peak Orange Line service as well as regular Red Line operation.
No estimate has been given for restoration of service, but DART has said its goal is to have repairs completed before Saturday’s Texas-Oklahoma football game, set for 11 a.m. CDT at the Cotton Bowl.
could it be another gauge problem at another agency?
