The transit agency reported on social media site X that about 15 people were on aboard at the time of the 4 p.m. derailment at Willow Station in the borough of Castle Shannon, south of downtown Pittsburgh. Rerailing the two cars “will take some time,” PRT said at 4:30 p.m.. “There’s special equipment used to lift the cars so they can be placed back on the tracks. We haven’t seen a two-car derailment in some time.” Portions of the light-rail system were single tracked because of the incident, allowing service to be restored, but with 1-hour delays for the remainder of the day.

The PRT website is not listing any residual issues at the site as of this morning.
