POCAHONTAS, Tenn. — An estimated 15 cars of a Norfolk Southern train derailed Sunday evening in southwest Tennesseee, WBBJ-TV reports, citing information from Hardeman County Sheriff John Doolen.
No injuries were reported. The derailment occurred about 7 p.m. in a remote area near the Hardeman and McNairy county lines in the Pocahontas area. A photo on the Hatchie Press website shows a group of auto racks involved; WBBJ reports the cars involved were empty.
Pocahontas is about 70 miles east of Memphis on the NS Memphis District West End. It is about 3½ miles north of the Mississippi state line.
Dollar cost for the NS might not count as a narrow escape unless in the area of no personal injuries which is always good.
Another narrow escape for NS!

Moot point since the cars were empty.
If an auto rack is derailed but stays upright and the autos have not broken loose, do those cars have to be junked?
Yes. They are considered damaged goods. No “Ding and Dent” sales.
