ATLANTA — Norfolk Southern and rail logistics information platform Commtrex are combining to improve customer access to transload facilities on the railroad’s network, the companies have announced.
NS customers will be able to use the Commtrex database to find rail-served facilities by location, commodities handled, or other parameters. NS has 32 transload facilities in its network.
“This partnership is impactful and enables transload customers to easily identify facilities served by Norfolk Southern, increasing access to shipping by rail, the most sustainable way to move freight over land,” Leggett Kitchin, NS vice president industrial products, said in a press release. “The technology also enhances the quality of data available to customers so they can accurately identify connecting points between our shipping network and transload partners.”
