Port of Catoosa Industrial Railroad becomes transportation company’s second Oklahoma rail property

Logo of short line company OmniTraxTULSA, Okla. — OmniTRAX has been named excusive rail partner for the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, an inland port which provides barge access to the central U.S. The long-term agreement became effective Aug. 18.

The new Port of Catoosa Industrial Railroad becomes the second OmniTRAX property in Oklahoma, and in the Tulsa area, joining the 32-mile Sand Springs Railway, which dates to 1911 and became an OmniTRAX property in 2014.

“The Port of Catoosa provides exceptional access to America’s heartland, and we are excited to contribute an unmatched service product and demonstrated record of growth across commodities to continue the port’s growth,” OmniTRAX CEO Dean Piacente said in a press release.

The Port of Catoosa is at the head of navigation for the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System and handles over 1,000 barges per year. The port also includes a 2,000-acre industrial park that is home to 70 companies.
