WAYCROSS, Ga. — CSX has introduced a new specially painted locomotive commemorating its “One CSX” initiative to recognize and involve the railroad’s employees.
As with the railroad’s fleet of heritage locomotives, the newly painted unit — SD70MAC No. 4720 — was unveiled by CEO Joe Hinrichs in a posted on the business social media site LinkedIn.
“This locomotive celebrates our ONE CSX team and culture,” Hinrichs wrote. “Note the inclusion of the logos for 14 of our labor union partners on the sides. So proud to work with 23,000 members of our ONE CSX team every day to keep America moving. Happy New Year everyone!”
The locomotive was painted at the CSX shops in Waycross, Ga. Its release comes just over a month after the release of an locomotive honoring predecessor Pan Am Railways, the last in a 21-locomotive series of heritage units [see “CSX unveils final heritage locomotive,” Trains News Wire, Nov. 20, 2024].
Hinrichs has made improving the railroad’s corporate culture and employee relations since he became CEO in 2022, discussing the One CSX initiative as part of a town hall meeting on his first day on the job [see “New CSX CEO pledges to improve …,” News Wire, Sept. 27, 2022].
How many CSX’s where there before 3, 4? Glad to know it is just one now. I don’t much like this paint job. I will say that all the Heritage Units are awesome. Just one persons opinion.
Two people’s opinions.
