VENTURA, Calif. — For the second straight year, Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner is adding service to Ventura while the city hosts the X Games sporting competition.

The additional trains will run June 28-30; during the same period, reservations will be required on the Surfliners because of anticipated additional ridership, and the Rail 2 Rail and Metrolink codeshare program will be suspended, meaning Metrolink and Coaster passes will not be accepted on Surfliner trains.

The additional trains planned for the X Games are:

— Northbound train No. 763, operating Friday, June 28, through June 30, arriving in Ventura at 10:12 a.m.

— Southbound train No. 798, operating Friday, June 28, and Saturday, June 29, departing Ventura at 10:38 p.m.

— Southbound train No. 786, operating Sunday, June 30, departing Ventura at 3:35 p.m.

Full schedules are available here.

Amtrak monthly and 10-ride passes will still be honored during the X Games, but must be confirmed each trip through the Amtrak RideReserve Program. Metrolink code share and Rail 2 Rail passengers will be able to ride the special-event trains only if space is available.

In 2023, Surfliner operator the LOSSAN Rail Corridor Agency added one additional train, a late-night departure from Ventura for X games spectators [see “Pacific Surfliner to offer fare discount, additional service …,” Trains News Wire, June 27, 2023]. One Surfliner trainset was also wrapped with advertising for the event.
