BOSTON — The Massachusetts Bay Railroad Enthusiasts is sponsoring a winter photo excursion Jan. 7, 2023 on the Conway Scenic Railroad featuring the 470 Railroad Club’s restored Boston & Maine F7A’s Nos. 4268 and 4266. The “Covered Wagons in the Snow” trip will feature multiple photo stops and run-bys. No. 4268 was returned to service earlier this year after an extensive restoration.
The excursion departs from the Conway Scenic Railroad’s North Conway, N.H. station at 10:30 a.m., heading north and west through Bartlett to Notchland, N.H. There the train reverses direction, with the two cab units leading back to North Conway. The engines will be pointed southward throughout the trip for photos. Along the way the train will make a number of stops, some accessible only by train, so passengers can photograph and capture videos of the train. Return to North Conway is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
The train will feature two dome cars and several coaches. The first-class fare in both dome cars includes a complementary snack and beverage package. Box lunches are available for advance purchase, and passengers will receive a detailed, full-color trip brochure, including route maps and descriptions of highlights along the route. A connecting bus for passengers traveling from Boston is also available.
Tickets can be ordered online or by telephone at 978-470-2066, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
