MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. — The Pikes Peak Cog Railway is bringing back its sunrise trips on four days this summer and fall, after introducing the early-morning departures last season.
On these four days, the first departure from the railway’s Manitou Springs station will be at 4:30 a.m. instead of the usual 8 a.m. The early departures will be offered on July 21 (National Parks and Recreation Day), Aug. 1 (Colorado Appreciation Day), Sept. 11 (Remembrance Day) and Oct. 14 (Indigenous Peoples’ Day).
Tickets, $99 for adults, are available at the Cog Railway website.
KRDO-TV reports that if trains cannot go to the summit because of weather, they will go as far as possible to allow passengers to see the sunrise. Refunds will not be offered for not making it to the 14,115-foot summit.
