LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Commuter rail operator Metrolink is planning limited service changes today (Monday, Aug. 21) in the wake of Tropical Storm Hilary, saying that as of a Sunday evening update that no rail infrastructure had been affected by the storm.
The only changes planned for today call for the four Orange County Line trains that normally originate in Oceanside, Calif, to instead originate at the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo station, while on the 91/Perris Valley Line, train No. 705, normally a 6 a.m. departure from Perris-South, will originate at Riverside-Downtown at 6:40. In San Diego County, the North County Transit District indicates on its service alerts page that it expects a normal weekday schedule for Coaster and Sprinter rail service today, although there could be some delays in morning operations
Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner has made no change beyond its original plan to cancel the San Diego-Los Angeles portion of its first northbound train of the day, No. 761. The Surfliner update page is here. In long-distance operations, the Coast Starlight and Southwest Chief are both shown as departing on schedule today.
