PORT CLINTON, Pa. — Reading & Northern has announced two changes in its marketing department, promoting James Raffa to senior vice president-petrochemicals and minerals, and naming Rian Nemeroff senior vice president-consumer products.
Raffa, who rejoined R&N two years ago, was instrumental in developing a Marcellus Shale transload terminal in Tunkhannock, Pa. The railroad handled more than 2,000 carloads of frac sand in 2022 and projects doubling that volume this year; Raffa now will take responsibility for the rest of the petrochemical and mineral segment, which accounts for more than 10,000 carloads a year.
Nemeroff, over the last seven years, built the R&N forest product business into the company’s largest group, with more than 10,000 carloads annual; his new position will also handle food and agriculture, for a business group covering more than 14,000 carloads a year.
They are part of a group that also includes William Clark, senior vice president, coal. Each of the three has more than 30 years of experience.
Wall Street and the class 1s hate them! A Class 2 railroad has successfully made money in every way possible, all while owning two steam locomotives, and attracting businesses without a single hint of PSR, all with this one weird trick! Find out the truth now!
Somehow, R and N finds a way to build traffic, serve customers and make money. Maybe the class ones should stop by and ask how it is done.
Personal touch. That requires people; hedge funds don’t want people.
