KAMLOOPS, British Columbia — Rocky Mountaineer tour train service resumed its normal schedule in Canada as of Sunday, Aug. 27, following several days of disruptions, the company reports.

Some departures had been cancelled as a result of wildfires in British Columbia, as well as an emergency order by British Columbia government that restricted non-essential travel to ensure fire evacuees and emergency personnel could find lodging [see “British Columbia travel restrictions …,” Trains News Wire, Aug. 20, 2023]. That emergency order was lifted Aug. 23.

Kamloops radio station CHNL reports the tour train company had previously reported it was “working around the clock to undo the alternate travel plans” it had put in place in response to the emergency order, and that would take several days as the company repositioned equipment and rebooked hotels.

Information for passengers affected by the recent changes is available at the Rocky Mountaineer website.
