SAN DIEGO, Calif. — Siemens Mobility has received a 12-year contract to maintain North County Transit District’s Sprinter diesel multiple unit trainsets. The $80 million Technical Support Spares Supply Agreement also includes a 3-year option.
The Sprinter equipment, in service since 2008, is used on the district’s 22-mile, 15-station line between Oceanside and Escondido.
“NCTD is excited about this agreement with Siemens which complements a similar agreement with Siemens for our Tier IV locomotive fleet,” Matthew Tucker, the district’s CEO, said in a press release. “The two technical services and material agreements with Siemens supports NCTD’s Zero Delay emphasis and will allow NCTD to advance the implementation of a world-class rail operation.”
Under the contract, Siemens will provide full-time, on-site employees for technical expertise and support, and project and materials management. It also includes a digital maintenance management system, CorMap, for Coaster locomotives and coaches, as well as the Sprinter equipment.
