BNSF has added to its list of Certified Sites. BNSF

FORT WORTH, Texas — BNSF Railway has added four more Certified Sites to its existing list of 38 trackside shovel-ready, rail-served industrial development properties.

The new sites, which were announced yesterday, include in Everett, Spokane, and Plymouth, Wash.; and Springfield, Mo.

“We’re excited to announce these four new locations to our growing list of certified sites across BNSF’s vast network,” Chris Danos, BNSF’s assistant vice president of economic development, said in a statement. “These sites enable our customers to enhance their service offerings by leveraging the benefits of rail, while significantly reducing the time it would take to construct new facilities.”

To be eligible, BNSF sites must undergo a thorough analysis, which evaluates environmental and geotechnical standards, available utilities, and both existing and proposed infrastructure. The program aims to create a catalog of rail-served sites that are ready for immediate development.

The new sites include:

  • Smith Island Terminal, Everett — This 54-acre site is located north of Seattle, less than eight miles from the Port of Everett and two miles from Interstate 5. The site is zoned for heavy industrial use and includes an existing rail loop with direct access to BNSF’s main line.
  • Spokane International Airport Rail-Truck Transload Center — This expansive site, adjacent to Spokane International Airport and Fairchild Air Force Base, offers 305 acres zoned for light industrial use with room for expansion. It also includes an existing truck-rail transload facility, as well as access to Interstate 90 and U.S. Route 92.
  • Plymouth Industrial Site — Spanning more than 1,300 acres, this site has access to State Route 14, Interstate 82, and Interstate 84, providing access to five major ports within a four-hour drive. The site is zoned for heavy industrial use and features an existing loop track with access to BNSF’s main line.
  • Moon Light, Springfield — This 186-acre site is set to transition from agricultural zoning to industrial and logistics use. It is located less than one mile from Springfield-Branson National Airport. The site is adjacent to BNSF’s main line and provides access to Interstate 44. It also provides connectivity to the Kansas City Intermodal facility and the Port of Catoosa in Tulsa, Okla.

    1. US 2 and I-90 are concurrent from just east of the airport into downtown Spokane. 2+90=92 so maybe that’s where they got it from.
