SEATTLE — Sound Transit has significantly revised its announced suspension of Sounder commuter rail service this morning (Feb. 13, 2025) and is now operating some trains.

In a news release sent at 6:47 a.m. PT, the agency said three S line trains would operate, departing from Lakewood, Wash., at 6:06, 6:26, and 6:46 a.m.. N line trains from Everett are operating on their normal schedule.

Initially, the agency had indicated all 13 morning S Line trains would be cancelled, as well as the four scheduled N Line trains.

A late Wednesday press release said a “maintenance lag that has prevented cars from being certified for service” was the cause of the cancellations, while an alert on the Sound Transit website says the cancellations are “due to preventative maintenance scheduling issues with Amtrak.”

Sound Transit says trains are expected to resume in the afternoon, with the schedule to be announced midday.

KIRO-TV posted a list of the original S line cancellations, as well as alternate bus plans, on its website.
