LOS ANGELES — Darren Kettle, currently executive director of the Ventura County Transportation Commission, has been named as new CEO of LA-area commuter rail operator Metrolink.
Kettle succeeds Stephanie Wiggins, who in June became CEO of L.A. Metro, which oversees bus and light rail operations in the LA area and is one of the five member agencies overseeing Metrolink. The Ventura County Transportation Commission is another of those agencies.
“Over the years I’ve had the chance to work with Metrolink as a regional partner. Now, I look forward to leading the executive team and the entire staff to continue its customer-first approach and rebuild ridership lost during the pandemic,” Kettle said in a press release.
Kettle had been at the Ventura County agency since 2007, the latest stop in a 32-year career with Southern California government agencies that also includes time with transportation agencies in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. He is expected to begin at Metrolink on Sept. 7.
