WASHINGTON — The Surface Transportation Board’s Office of Environmental Analysis has extended the public comment period for environmental impact statement of the Canadian Pacific to Jan. 3, 2022.
Comments were originally due today (Dec. 17, 2021).
The extension reflects requests for additional time to comment, the Office of Environmental Impact said in the notice issued today, which also explains how to comment. The office says no additional extensions will be granted.
There’s mucho bucks to be made with every one of these; that’s why they’re so “necessary”.
Don’t worry, Mr. Fegely, they’ll find a reason.
Where is the Environmental Impact with a end to end merger of two railroads. There not building something new. Or is it for the nimby’s that don’t want to hear more trains running on the tracks in there neighborhood ?
That’s exactly the reason. Note the Newswire article citing opposition from communities along the Metra Milw West Line/CP Elgin Subdivision. Isn’t it interesting that communities along the BNSF Chicago Sub don’t complain and that line, between the Metra, Amtrak, and freights, hosts and has historically hosted, far more trains. Someone is trying to dynamite CPKC.
It’s not only the Burlington. CP Rail goes through similar communities north of Chicago with a similar mix of traffic, except that the Burlington has coal and CP Rail doesn’t. If the NIMBYs and the BANANAS were correct, Glenview would be vacant. Instead it’s one of the most thriving suburbs anywhere. How is it that Glenview has massive new residential development with CP Rail right outside the window?
