Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority logoSAN JOSE, Calif. — The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority announced three of its four unions have ratified new contracts, while negotiations continue with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 265.

Agreements have been reached with Service Employees International Union Local 521, representing more than 300 workers in information technology, communications and finane; the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees Local 1101, representing more than 250 supervisory and managerial staff, and the Transportation Authority Engineers and Architects Local 21, representing more than 21 professional technical staff members.

All agreed to four-year agreements with annual raises of 4%, 3.5%, 3%, and 4%; improved dental and vision benefits, and improved workplace policies, the VTA said.

The ATU continues to seek 18% over three years, while the VTA is offering 4%, 3%, and 3.5%, according to its most recent update. That is actually a slight decrease from the offer the agency made on March 24 — raises of 4%, 4%, and 3% — before a court order on March 26 ended the strike that began on March 10 [see “Judge orders Santa Clara VTA worker to end strike,” March 27, 2025].
